A. Powder coatings with different curing rates are mixed by dry mixing method, then the luster of the resulting film is significantly reduced and plays a matting role.
Due to the rapid curing of powder coatings with high reactivity, the flow reaction of resin with slow curing in continuous phase is hindered, and the final curing film loses its luster. Although this method is effective, it increases the manufacturing process and cost.
b, add thermoplastic resin.
By adding cellulose acetate to epoxy powder coating and fine powder-like low molecular weight polyethylene and polypropylene resin to polyester powder coating, the dull powder coating can be obtained. The gloss of the film is affected by the manufacturing conditions. Because the addition of thermoplastic resin will affect the storage stability of powder coating, the addition amount is limited to 2-3% of the resin amount.
c, use a special curing agent with extinction effect.
d, add a matting filler.
Adding ultrafine silica, talc powder and other fillers can significantly reduce the luster. In particular, the particle size of the filler has a great influence on the gloss of the film. The larger the particle size, the lower the gloss. It should be noted that increasing the amount of filler will reduce the flatness and mechanical strength of the film. In epoxy powder coatings, the effect of calcium carbonate particle size on the gloss of the coating is shown in the table. Matting coatings can be obtained by adding ultrafine silica and kaolin to acrylic and polyester powder coatings.
